Website Accessibility Statement
The Philanthropy Australia Website has been designed to be accessible to as many people as possible, including those with varying degrees of abilitity and available technologies. If you find you still have difficulty using this Website, please let us know; we value feedback on your experience and will do our best to rectify any issues in future maintenance and development.
Standards Compliance*
- This site complies with all priority 1, 2, and in most cases, 3 guidelines of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- All pages on this site use valid CSS & XHTML.
- The Victorian Government's Accessibility Toolkit was also consulted during the process of ensuring accessibility.
* In some cases, code generated by third parties that is embedded on this website are unable to be validated - this includes Google Maps & reCAPTCHA. However, these embedded features do not hamper the overall accessibility of the pages upon which they appear; the information they contain is available in accessible formats on the same page.
Visual Design
- This site uses CSS for visual layout.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support CSS style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
- Relative font sizes are used throughout the site. This means that you can make the text larger or smaller if you wish. (In Internet Explorer, go to the "View" menu, select "Text Size" and then your preferred size. Keyboard shortcuts may also work if you are browsing with Firefox - on Windows: CTRL +, on Mac: COMMAND +)
Navigation Aids
- All pages on this site include a consistent set of global navigation links.
Accessibility Features that are in-progress:
Links
- Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article or name of a person)
- Links are written to make sense out of context. Some web browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx, and Opera) can extract the list of links from the current page and let users navigate the site using the list.
- There are no links that open new windows without warning.
Images
- All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
