State Trustees Australia Foundation, in conjunction with Philanthropy Australia, held a lunchtime session with members of the Ageing, Disability and Mental Health Collaborative Panel to hear the objectives of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and changes to the sector.
Our Speakers included Ross Joyce (CEO, Australian Federation of Disability Organisations), David Moody (State Manager, National Disability Services Victoria) and Mary Sayers (Deputy CEO, Victoria Council of Social Service). They gave an overview of the NDIS and the implications for service providers and consumers. They also discussed the current gaps in the transition and the opportunities for philanthropy. The session ended with a proposal on a new Cross-Sector Learning and Development clearinghouse.
The Ageing, Disability and Mental Health Collaborative Panel was established in 2014 to respond to sector reforms. Read more about the Panel here.
