An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Partnerships and Communications Director at Adara Development, the international non-profit development arm of the Adara Group.

This role spans all aspects of partnerships, fundraising and internal and external communications, including media and awareness raising of the Adara Group.

As the Partnerships and Communications Director, you’ll make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people living in poverty by leading Adara’s fundraising and donor management strategy. You’ll be at the cutting edge of business/non-profit partnerships as you champion our mission to bridge the world of business and the world of people in extreme poverty, and oversee the internal and external communications and public relations functions of the organisation globally.

Adara Group is a unique business-non-profit partnership. The Adara corporate advisory businesses, Adara Advisors and Adara Partners, exist for the sole purpose of funding Adara Development, a leading international INGO. This allows 100% of all other donations received by Adara Development to go directly to project-related costs. Adara Development specialises in maternal newborn child health and remote community development. We work through two pillars: best practice service delivery and knowledge sharing.


Key Responsibilities:

The major responsibilities of the Partnerships and Communications Director include:

  • Relationship Management
  • Fundraising
  • Communications and profile raising, including managing all traditional and social media
  • Management, reporting and team building.

​The Director will lead a small, dedicated, and talented fundraising and communications team to develop and implement the organisation’s fundraising and communications strategy. The role is both hands on and strategic, requiring you to lead fundraising and donor management for Adara Development, as well as oversee the internal and external communications and public relations functions of the organisation globally. This executive position will also contribute to Adara’s overall strategy as a key member of the Global Leadership Team.


Key Competencies:

  • Be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline (international development, international relations, marketing, communications, or other relevant discipline).
  • 8+ years of successfully managing major donor partnerships and cultivating relationships with at least 2 years in a senior role managing a team.
  • Proven track record in fundraising including with major donors, corporates, grants, individual giving and foundations.
  • Have a track record in establishing and developing positive relationships with a wide range of partners, clients and donors at a senior level.
  • Be able to manage all aspects of internal and external communications, including website design, operations reports, presentations, speeches and traditional and social media.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience in developing funding submissions and reporting to clients.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets and the management of financial and administrative systems.
  • Be willing, fit and able to travel internationally, possibly several times a year for up to 4 weeks at a time.
  • Be willing to undergo police check, as you may be working with children when on project sites.
  • Interest, passion and commitment to social justice and international development.

​This position is a permanent, full-time role based in Rozelle Sydney, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer of Adara Development and the Chair of the Adara Group. The working environment is informal but professional, with very high standards of output and delivery. We are a happy, enthusiastic and energy filled group, with a great work culture.
