POSITION TITLE: Senior Communications Officer

Utilise your skills in communications, project management and CRS and digital environments to support Australia’s first digital philanthropic data and resources platform for our members, the Better Giving Hub.
• Lead further development and functionality of the PA digital platform, the Better Giving Hub
• Provide content, implement engagement strategies, monitor and report on member usage of the BGH
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing and communications plans
Philanthropy Australia (PA) is the peak body for philanthropy in Australia. This independent organisation exists to serve a community of funders, social investors and social change agents working to achieve positive social, cultural, environmental and community change by leveraging their financial assets and influence.
With over 650 trusts, foundations, organisations, families, individual donors, professional advisers, intermediaries and not-for-profit organisations in their immediate network, PA exists to connect individuals and organisations, collect and share data and insights, offer professional learning and lead and advocate on behalf of the sector, to advance philanthropy in Australia. PA’s purpose is to serve the philanthropic efforts of its members to achieve more and better philanthropy.
The Senior Communications Officer will be instrumental in leading further development and functionality of the PA digital platform the Better Giving Hub: they will ensure current content is available for members, encourage member engagement, and monitor and reporting usage. The Senior Communications Officer will also support & collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing and communications plans.
You will have 3-5 years’ experience in producing online content on CMS platforms, digital communications, online marketing and social media. You are capable of writing and editing for a variety of audiences.
You can demonstrate your project management experience working with developers and agencies to deliver projects to strict deadlines, utilising tight budgets, and requiring strong supplier negotiation and relationship management. You are an effective and collaborative problem-solver.
You have experience in web publishing and content management systems (CMS); and ideally have experience in WordPress design, implementation and management (for PA’s BGH). You are proficient in graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite.
To be a success as our Senior Communications Officer, you will have strong interpersonal skills, are empathetic, a good listener and respectful by nature; you are diplomatic, have strong judgement, and able to receive feedback constructively. You are a natural collaborator with demonstrated experience in sharing and working in partnership with others.
An understanding, interest and passion for philanthropy and the charitable sector is highly desirable.
As this is a role supports our national membership organisation, the ability to travel interstate may be required, and to work outside of normal hours on occasion.
