Commonwealth Bank has announced more than 200 community organisations that support the health and wellbeing of Australian youth will receive individual grants of up to $10,000, as part of the 2013 Commonwealth Bank Community Grants program. The annual Community Grants program is funded by staff donations to the Commonwealth Bank Staff Community Fund and is matched dollar-for-dollar by the Group. Louise Walsh, Chief Executive Officer, Philanthropy Australia, believes community grants programs are vital in assisting grassroots charity organisations. “Programs like the Commonwealth Bank’s Community Grants have an important and positive impact on communities across Australia. The Commonwealth Bank can be proud of the contribution it makes through community grants to hundreds of organisations each year,” Ms Walsh said.
In conversation with Nicole Richards at the Philanthropy Meets Parliament Summit, Daniel Lee shared his insights on topics including the role of philanthropy as a driver of systems change which addresses root causes of social challenges, the relationship between philanthropy and government and what the new political environment in the United States means for philanthropy.
