A $450,000 donation from philanthropist Neil Balnaves has given a crucial boost to young medical researchers.
Philanthropist and businessman Neil Balnaves has donated $450,000 to the University of Sydney's medical school to help promising young scientists establish themselves in the very competitive field of medical research.
The donation, from the Balnaves Foundation, will be contribute to a $1 million fund which will support early career medical researchers during the next three years.
In conversation with Nicole Richards at the Philanthropy Meets Parliament Summit, Daniel Lee shared his insights on topics including the role of philanthropy as a driver of systems change which addresses root causes of social challenges, the relationship between philanthropy and government and what the new political environment in the United States means for philanthropy.
