State Library of Victoria given $5 million in rare books

A late Melbourne QC's rare English book collection, estimated to be worth more than $5 million, has been given to the State Library of Victoria

The gift comes with a $1.3 million endowment to preserve and catalogue the collection and acquire further books. The cash will also fund John Emmerson fellowships for research using the collection, and enable public events. More
