As soon as we landed in Geneva, we launched into a deep discussion on impact investing with four leading Geneva-based experts: Julia Balandina Jaquier (JBJ Consulting, author of Guide to Impact Investing for Family Offices and High Net Worth Individuals), Audrey Selian (Artha Initiative & Halloran Philanthropies), Guillaume Taylor (Quadia) and Arthur Wood (Total Impact).
The emerging theme was a strong belief; the current economic model is broken. An approach that embeds consideration for social and environmental impact needs to be factored into the investment process and financial objectives. This way, impact investment can be seen as a risk mitigation strategy for investments.
In the evening, we were warmly hosted by Nexus Geneva. Nexus is a global movement of young philanthropists and social entrepreneurs, uniting to accelerate solutions to global problems. Our very own Rachel English and Cathy Scalzo joined panel discussions with their Swiss counterparts to share insights into the work of their foundations and highlight their different approaches to international development and supporting social enterprises.
