Carolina Gottardo

Director, Jesuit Refugee Service


Carolina is a lawyer and economist with 20+ years experience working on human rights issues, specialising on gender, asylum and migration. She is the Director of Jesuit Refugee Service, Australia. Previously she was the director for 6 years, of a women's rights organisation working with refugee and migrant women in the UK. Carolina served as the National Policy Director of the Refugee Council of Australia in 2006/07. She has been a senior manager in different organisations and has served on a number of boards in Australia, Brussels, Bangkok and London. Carolina is currently the co-chair of the End Child Detention Coalition Australia and the chair of the women and girls group and focal point on the Global Compact on Migration at the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network. Carolina has excellent UN advocacy experience and is a member of the UN Woman Global Expert Group on gender and migration.
