Position Description

The primary purpose of this role is to plan and implement the communications, media & marketing engagement strategies for Philanthropy Australia’s membership programme, and national & state-based events and networks. Reporting to the CEO as part of the Senior Leadership team, the Communications & Marketing Manager will work with PA’s national team to implement communication plans to broaden the impact of PA’s programs, brand and services.

You will be responsible for the ongoing development, content and successful engagement by our membership base of the web-based digital membership platform, the Better Giving Hub (BGH). Working with external developers, staff and the PA membership, you will ensure an ongoing membership engagement with the platform, building content, reporting and monitoring.

Working with a very small budget, leveraging discounts and in-kind support from suppliers is critical to providing the kind of service PA needs. Being able to develop excellent relationships and cultivate long-term supporters of PA is essential.

Selection Criteria

  • A strong track record (7+ years business experience) of positioning an organisation to achieve tangible outcomes in communications, and/or public relations, including proven digital media experience, within a competitive communications environment
  • Proven expertise in social media and the digital delivery mechanisms of marketing today
  • Proven experience in working with agencies and managing and delivering projects to strict deadlines, particularly website and digital projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills – includes effective building and retaining existing relationships, positive interactions and effective problem solving, and negotiation experience
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation and research skills; able to provide diverse writing samples
  • Strong budgeting, effective use of small budget resources, requiring strong supplier management &negotiation and
  • An understanding, interest and passion for philanthropy and the charitable sector is highly desirable
