About us

The Ethics Centre (TEC) is a unique, Australian-based not-for-profit which works to place ethics at the centre of everyday life. It supports individuals and organisations to address complex ethical issues and stimulates public engagement through flagship programs like the Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI). It remains the only organisation in the world providing practical guidance on complex ethical issues across the full spectrum of society.

The Ethics Centre receives revenue from fundraising and from two main sources: fundraising and earned income from the provision of consulting services, education and learning programs and event ticket sales. Some funding segments are well established, while the Centre’s approach to sponsorships, family and corporate foundations, bequests and government grants would benefit from further development.  

About the role 

• Philanthropy – developing existing and potential sources of philanthropy, including preparation of pitches, contract negotiations, reporting and acquittal 
• Grant funding 
• Sustainable sponsorship and other commercial partnerships 
• Individual giving (including bequests) 

As Head of Fundraising and Development your skills, knowledge and experience
include:

• Deep knowledge and understanding of Australian philanthropy and the fundraising landscape
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing development goals and strategy
• Successful experience with applying for grant funding
• Analytical skills with the ability to research, profile, and qualify fundraising prospects
• Experience with CRM (Salesforce) software
• Highly developed written and verbal communication capabilities
• Sophisticated negotiation, influencing and relationship development skills
• A willingness to take responsibility and roll up your sleeves as part of a small team
• Relevant tertiary qualifications with at least 7 years’ experience in development and donor relations within the not-for-profit or arts sectors
