Federal government responds to ACNC legislation review

March 06th, 2020

The Federal government’s response to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) 2018 legislation review was released today.

In releasing the report, the Assistant Minister for Finance, Charities and Electoral Matters Zed Seselja said he believed the government’s response would “…result in a better balance between reducing red tape for charities so they can focus their resources on supporting their communities, while ensuring the generous Australians who give their time and money to various causes can have trust and confidence in the governance of the charities they support.’’

Philanthropy Australia (PA) acknowledges the government’s continued commitment to the ACNC and the critical role the Commission plays in supporting a vibrant and effective charities sector. PA will release a formal response to its members and the community in the next few days.
