Riding the waves of big ideas and inspiring insights

September 09th, 2022

By Jack Heath, CEO, Philanthropy Australia

It’s been a beautiful ride these past few days.

Personally, it feels like someone has thrown me a surfboard and pointed me in the direction of the surf. I’ve been catching some wonderful waves these past days – and just as you thought you surfed one great wave another one comes along – one joyous wave after another - poignant and tearful at times – but joyful nonetheless. I hope your experience has been similar.

But as the Assistant Minister for Competition, Charities and Treasury, Andrew Leigh reminded us

It’s about the “we” not the “me”.

Thank you everyone for being here and making this conference so special.

When Dr Salmah Eva-Lina Lawrence was speaking earlier today in the Beyond These Shores session she spoke about momentum and movements. It made me wonder whether the flow and buoyancy we have experienced during this conference is because we are all part of something much bigger than our individual selves.

Over the coming months, Philanthropy Australia is looking to build on the momentum as we move to implement our strategic plan, relaunch our website, refine our offerings, build out our team and embark on a philanthropic journey that will make a real difference, a philanthropic journey for the love of humanity.

Backing this conference have been our wonderful partners.
