New CSI research project on mental health post-COVID

September 30th, 2020

A new research project exploring and analysing the state of Australia’s mental health and well being systems in a post-COVID-19 environment has been unveiled.

The project, which is part of the Centre for Social Impact’s series of deep analyses of social issues areas, is supported by Zurich Financial Services Australia through the Z Zurich Foundation.

The nine-month project will look at issues over time and leverage CSI’s expertise and networks to “…reveal how to create a more impactful, inclusive and sustainable future for all Australians.’’

CSI CEO Professor Kristy Muir said the prevalence of mental health issues in Australia was expected to increase with the advent of COVID-19. “We need a study that understands the sector’s capacity to respond to and improve mental health and well being,’’ she said.

Zurich’s Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Linda Griffin, said the work would contribute to better equipping the for-purpose sector to make a long-lasting impact on improving the nation’s mental health. “The Centre for Social impact’s work is about creating more than a ‘Band-aid’: it’s about changing the way we work to create positive impact,’’ Linda said.
