As philanthropy readies itself for the complex challenges of the future, we ask some of our key conference participants to reflect on its theme Future Needs, Now? By Kristy Muir

"The events of 2019-21 - natural disasters, a global pandemic and racial and gender equality movements – are testament to this being a monumental moment in living history. How we respond and react will not only be judged by history, but will write it. This creates great pressure, but also enormous opportunity. It provides the space for leadership, for better understanding where we’ve come from, where we are now and what we need to do to create a better future for all. Philanthropy has unique and important roles to play into the future, not just as funders, but as contributors, innovators, disruptors, and connectors. Now, is the time for philanthropy to ask, listen to and be part of collectively answering: “What does the future need from us?"
