Roxanne Moore Board member

Roxanne Moore (she/they/baal) is a Noongar human rights lawyer from Margaret River in Western Australia, currently serving as Executive Director, First Nations and Youth Action at the Foundation for Young Australians. Roxanne’s career in legal and human rights campaigning and advocacy has focused on First Nations justice and rights. Roxanne has held Board Director positions on the Grata Fund and the Institute for Post Colonial Studies.

At FYA, Roxanne has led the design and development of the Seeding Strength grants program, which funds projects, campaigns and movements led by young First Nations people. Seeding Strength is in its third year, and is self-determined and governed by FYA’s First Nations Governance Group. 

Roxanne was the Executive Officer for the National Peak body on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (NATSILS). Previously, they were an Indigenous Rights Campaigner with Amnesty International Australia and Principal Advisor to Change the Record Coalition. Roxanne has worked for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission; as Principal Associate to the Hon Chief Justice Wayne Martin AC QC; as a commercial litigator; and has international experience with UNHCR Jordan and New York University’s Global Justice Clinic.

Roxanne studied law at the University of WA, and completed an LLM (International Legal Studies) at NYU, specialising in human rights law, as a 2013 Fulbright Western Australian Scholar.
