The Content Lead will help illuminate the evolving story of giving in Australia and Philanthropy Australia’s role as the sector’s peak body. Through accessible, human‑centred storytelling, you will connect with members and partners to surface the ideas, experiences and perspectives that shape philanthropy’s contribution to communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a curious, thoughtful and purpose‑driven writer and storyteller to join our Marketing & Communications team as Content Lead This role is ideal for an experienced content generator and editor, who is energised by listening deeply, building trusted relationships, and helping bring forward the stories that reflect the lived experience, insight and generosity of our sector.

As Content Lead, you will help illuminate the evolving story of giving in Australia and Philanthropy Australia’s role as the sector’s peak body. Through accessible, human‑centred storytelling, you will connect with members and partners to surface the ideas, experiences and perspectives that shape philanthropy’s contribution to communities.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will guide the editorial direction of key channels (including our flagship Giving News) and collaborate with senior leaders to help articulate ideas that elevate sector voices, deepen understanding, and support more connected, equitable and impactful philanthropy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write engaging content and editorial plans that amplify Philanthropy Australia’s voice across digital platforms
  • Own our fortnightly newsletter Giving News, leading story identification, interviews, writing, editing and publication
  • Build meaningful relationships with members, partners, and colleagues to surface insights, stories and opportunities
  • Support senior leaders – including the CEO – with speeches, op-eds, commentary and strategic communications
  • Champion editorial excellence, creativity, and innovation across formats
  • Explore opportunities to share and syndicate stories more broadly, including through media and sector partners
  • Use digital analytics to understand audience behaviour and enhance reach and impact

  • An excellent writer and editor. You are especially when supporting senior leaders and shaping organisational voice.

Experience in journalism, philanthropy, not-for-profit sector or a membership-based organisation is highly regarded.
