The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead and inspire a small and effective team to deliver a strategic, integrated marketing and communications strategy in line with PA’s organisational objectives.

Philanthropy Australia (PA) is the national peak body for philanthropy. It is an independent not-for-profit organisation with trusts, foundations, families, individual donors, professional advisers, companies, intermediaries and not-for-profits as members and partners.

PA provides advocacy, networking and resources to the philanthropic and not-for-profit sector, as well as information and research for the Australian community. It supports wider philanthropic efforts by increasing understanding of ‘giving’ across community, business and government.

The role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Membership and Engagement, the Director of Marketing and Communications will lead and inspire a small and effective team to deliver a strategic, integrated marketing and communications strategy in line with PA’s organisational objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen and increase the visibility of PA’s brand and enhance the brand integrity across all channels and platforms.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead membership engagement and business engagement and drive digital transformation to support national events and content development.

Setting the communications plan, the Director will also manage media/public relations and internal communications, in addition to providing expert advice to the Executive Leadership Team, the CEO and the board.

Collaboration is key, you will work closely with teams across Australia to deliver cohesive marketing and communications campaigns across multiple channels.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A strong track record in developing and delivering strategic marketing and communications plans (external and internal)
  • Leadership experience across marketing and communications
  • Demonstrated end-to-end campaign experience from inception to analysis
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Dedication to member-based and not-for-profit environments
  • Experience working directly with ELT and the ability to build executive profiles
  • A track record in delivering digital strategy, including website, social media and CRM
  • Experience in Salesforce desirable

Please note – this is a Melbourne based role, with hybrid work conditions including 2-3 days in the CBD office.
