The Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network (AEGN) is seeking a highly skilled and values-driven Program Manager – Climate, to work with members to catalyse critical interventions that mobilise philanthropy to ensure people and ecosystems thrive.
Working at the intersection of philanthropy and climate action, leveraging your exceptional relationship management and network-building experience, you’ll play a key role in helping AEGN members leverage their resources, influence and leadership to achieve transformational outcomes in the decade that matters.
About the role
As Program Manager – Climate you will work with members and sector partners to drive progress on the necessary transition of our society and economy to address global warming’s causes and impacts, including:
- Providing advice and support to AEGN members, helping them strengthen their strategies, confidence, and effectiveness – individually and collectively;
- Facilitating collaborations with members, NGOs and experts that catalyse funding that enables tangible, high-impact outcomes.
- Developing and delivering events, learning opportunities and convenings that build climate the capacity of climate-focused philanthropists.
- Producing thought leadership and research outputs, staying abreast of climate and environmental trends.
- Managing program delivery, including planning, budgets, partnerships and monitoring, learning and evaluation.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Experienced (6+ years) in the climate change sector, ideally in roles with exposure to philanthropy or relevant NGOs.
- A proven relationship manager who is adept at nurturing strategic connections across diverse sectors and building the capacity of others to lead.
- Skilled at facilitation, convening and supporting collaborative groups for meaningful outcomes.
- A confident and engaging communicator, who comfortable presenting to diverse audiences and is a clear and engaging writer.
- Knowledgeable about the philanthropic and charitable landscape, with an understanding of how funders drive impact.
- Organised, strategic and proactive, able to design, manage and deliver complex programs to a high standard.
- Entrepreneurial, with a track record in building strategies and executing them in a complex, fast-moving context.
- Committed to ethical, respectful and inclusive work practices, including working alongside First Nations communities.
- Expertise in the energy transition policymaking and/or on-ground implementation, experience working with A.I. tools and social media (LinkedIn) are desirable attributes for the role.
