Join us: 50 years of Philanthropy Australia

Philanthropy Australia goes into 2026 celebrating a momentous milestone: 50 years since the founding of our organisation.
For half a century, Philanthropy Australia has been the national peak body and voice for giving – connecting our sector, inspiring collaboration and championing generosity as a force for lasting change.

Founded as the Association of Australian Philanthropic Trusts by Lady Meriel Wright of The Myer Foundation, Patricia Feilman of The Ian Potter Foundation and other leaders, this golden anniversary is a moment to honour their vision, pay tribute to the many members and supporters who have shaped our journey, and look ahead to what the next 50 years of Australian philanthropy can hold.
Join us for a national celebration
Philanthropy Australia’s is marking its 50th anniversary at celebratory events across the country. Held at inspirations venues, these gatherings will reflect the spirit of giving in each community, weaving together the stories of a movement that began with a handful of visionary trusts and is today a national community of changemakers.
