Across the kitchen tables and community halls of Sydney, a grassroots movement of giving is growing slowly. The donations may not match the recent multimillion-dollar gifts of James Packer or Andrew Forrest, but the intention is the same: donors wanting to make a difference in their own neighbourhoods, towns and cities.
