Brian Wyborn Board member

Brian is the Chief Investment Officer at Aboriginal Investment NT, a corporate Commonwealth entity dedicated to driving economic self-determination and building long-term, intergenerational wealth for Indigenous communities. As a proud Torres Strait Islander and Papua New Guinean man, he’s committed to improving outcomes for Indigenous peoples across Australia. He brings over 15 years’ experience in investments, governance, and strategic leadership, with a career spanning both public and private sector.

Brian previously served as Managing Partner at First Australians Capital, an impact investment fund focused on breaking down systemic barriers to finance and building economic independence for Indigenous people and communities. Prior to that, he was a Director at JBWere, advising clients across investment strategy, governance, and portfolio construction, with a specialist focus on supporting Indigenous organisations, including Native Title and Royalty Trusts. Brian has combined deep technical expertise with a commitment to embedding Indigenous leadership and self-determination in Australia’s investment landscape.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Business, a Master of Financial Planning, and a Master of Social Change Leadership, and has also completed the AICD Company Directors Course. He serves as Chair of Australian Regional and Remote Community Services Limited (ARRCS) and is a Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Institute. Brian also contributes his expertise through roles on the NAB Foundation Impact Investment Committee and the Investment Committee of the Noongar Boodja Trust.
