Brian Wyborn Board member

Brian is the Managing Partner at First Australians Capital (FAC) an Impact Investment Fund building a community of Investors and Investees premised on overcoming systematic barriers to finance, driving a new economy and building economic independence for Indigenous people and communities. He is a Torres Strait Islander and Papua New Guinea man who has over 15 years of professional experience across public and private sector with ten years in investment, portfolio and strategic advisory experience.  

Prior to joining FAC, Brian’s most recent role was a Director at JBWere advised clients across a wide range of investment asset classes including fixed income, equities (both domestic and international), managed fund and alternative investments. His scope of advice ranged from the structuring and governance to asset allocation, investment portfolio construction, implementation and ongoing management. A unique subset of his clients was working with Indigenous organisations across Australia in different sectors including health, education, Native Title and Royalty Trusts. Through the work of their Indigenous Advisory and Philanthropic Services teams, they had significant experience in providing governance and investment management services specifically to Indigenous communities – under differing benefits management structures. 

Brian holds a Bachelor of Business, a Masters of Financial Planning, Masters of Social Change Leadership and has also completed the Foundations of Directorship with the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Brian holds an Investment Committee role with the Noongar Boodja Trust, is a board member of the Australian Regional and Remote Community Services Limited and also a Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Institute.
