Strategy Update
Founded 50 years ago with a commitment to strengthen and grow philanthropy across Australia, Philanthropy Australia is building on that legacy as we chart our path forward.

This year marks the conclusion of our 2022–2025 strategic plan. There has been significant success during this time, including steady membership growth, government engagement, policy reforms, member engagement, knowledge and education activities, partner and revenue growth, organisational sustainability and organisational transformation.
Consultation informing our next strategy
To shape the direction of Philanthropy Australia beyond 2025, we have conducted a national and international consultation process. More than 750 people – including members, staff, Board and sector stakeholders – from across the philanthropy ecosystem have shared their thoughts on how the sector is shifting, and on PA’s role and value.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time to take part in our open survey, focus groups and roundtables. Insights from this rich and insightful consultation phase, guided by the WINGS framework, are shaping our future strategy.
The key themes that emerged from the consultation phase are:
The sector is seeking inclusive, transparent and shared leadership from PA 1. PA is most valued for its role as a convener, enabler and leading voice 2. Members are seeking a balance between growing giving and supporting effective giving 3. Members are looking to PA to be bold and ambitious on behalf of philanthropy and the communities and causes it supports 4. Members are looking to PA to be a platform for shared knowledge, insights and understanding |
