Established in 1972 through the Victorian Conservation Trust Act, Trust for Nature is one of Australia’s oldest conservation organisations. Their goal is to protect and restore places in Victoria where wildlife and native plants can thrive, which they do by working closely with government, not-for profit and private sectors who hold the same vision. In order to achieve strategic conservation, they have a strong supporting focus on: engagement for greater outcomes, sustainable finance and their people.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Development is a newly created, pivotal leadership role within the executive team with the primary responsibility of driving growth and revenue aligned to the organisation’s strategic direction, vision, values and strategic goals.
In order to support Trust for Nature’s ambitious private land conservation goals, the Director, Development will drive strategy through marketing, fundraising, bequests, government grants and corporate partnership opportunities.
About you
You are an established leader with senior-level experience in Fundraising, Communications and/or Marketing within the For-Purpose space. You are driven to find new opportunities for growth and have an ‘outside of the box’ approach, understanding that outstanding stakeholder relationships are a key part of successful outcomes. You will clearly demonstrate:
- Exceptional leadership to build a strong culture of philanthropy and high performing teams
- Broad experience leading marketing, fundraising and communications programs
- Problem solving, creative thinking and analytical reasoning skills
- Strategic planning
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Pipeline and moves management from prospect identification, through to ‘the ask’, acquittals and stewardship
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders to achieve outcomes
