About Tanarra Social Purpose

Tanarra Social Purpose (TSP) is part of the Tanarra Group, founded by investment banker and philanthropist John Wylie AC and Myriam Boisbouvier Wylie. We exist to help social-purpose organisations and their leaders achieve greater impact and long-term sustainability.

We bring the commercial skills, strategic thinking and problem-solving capability of the Tanarra Group as well as external professionals seeking to volunteer their expertise to support charities and social enterprises, primarily on a low-bono or pro bono basis, helping them to strengthen their business models, clarify strategy, and maximise impact.

What we do

We draw on the commercial skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving expertise of the Tanarra Group, along with the contributions of external professionals who volunteer their time. Together, we support charities and social enterprises on a low-bono or pro bono basis to strengthen their business models, clarify their strategy and maximise their impact.

We offer practical and impartial advice designed to create real impact. By asking the tough questions and acting as a trusted sounding board, we help organisations make sound strategic and financial decisions.

Our point of difference

We’re not afraid to challenge assumptions or deliver the ‘hard to hear’ insights that drive real improvement. Our advice is informed by deep commercial experience and a commitment to sector betterment, not by a desire for ongoing consulting work or contracts.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t give cash donations or grants.
  • We don’t produce lengthy management consultant-style reports.
  • We don’t fundraise or seek sponsorship on behalf of charities.
  • We don’t do marketing, PR, or social media.
  • We don’t provide legal or accounting advice.

About the role

Working closely with the CEO, the Head of Strategy and Impact will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing TSP’s strategic direction and strengthening our impact measurement capability. This is a hands-on role, blending strategy, analysis, and collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the continued development and implementation of Tanarra Social Purpose’s strategy.
  • Apply commercial and financial analysis to help client organisations sharpen their strategy and business models.
  • Build, review and refine financial models and tools to assess organisational sustainability and growth opportunities.
  • Support delivery of both low-bono and pro bono advisory projects across multiple social-purpose organisations, helping define scope, design interventions and measure outcomes.
  • Lead and evolve impact evaluation and reporting across TSP’s project portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sector stakeholders, including philanthropists, charities, social enterprises and businesses.
  • Contribute to building internal capability including developing tools, templates and frameworks to streamline advisory work.

Working with us

You’ll be part of a small, passionate team that works closely with Tanarra Capital and the broader Tanarra Group, drawing on their commercial expertise to create real social value. We offer flexible working arrangements and a supportive, purpose-driven environment where your ideas and contributions are valued.
