Alliance magazine is looking to add an Oceania regional representative to join their global team of 12 regional and country representatives. This development will help Alliance achieve greater geographical parity in over overage; identify and nurture new voices and provide them with a global platform; and encourage greater exchange between practitioners across the globe. Their specific aim with this role is to:

The Regional Representative’s responsibility is to support the Digital Editor in broadening the coverage from their region through connecting Alliance to sources, stories, and ideas/debates about philanthropy.

Specific duties

  • Writing monthly reports – Provide a short monthly written report to the digital editor outlining news, trends and developments from that region, highlighting any key organisations and/or individual connected to those trends
  • Editorial follow-up to reports – This could include making introductions to local practitioners as requested by the digital editor; commissioning practitioners in the region to write for Alliance; or producing short form written content on something highlighted in the report.
  • Academic centre engagement – Know the academic centres in you region and create and maintain a solid point of contact within the relevant philanthropy centre so that they can feed updates to you, and you can include them in your monthly report.
  • Alliance content production – This could include writing a update for the print magazine; working on an Alliance event; conducting an interview or writing an article.
  • Covering sector event – Alliance will arrange for representatives to attend and cover a key sector event in their region/country each year. All coverage outputs will be agreed in advance and Alliance will cover all costs of attendance including travel and accommodation.
  • Presentation to Alliance editorial team – You will prepare and deliver (via Teams) a verbal update on philanthropy in your region/country building on your monthly reports. This will be an opportunity for the editorial team to ask questions as well as share information with you about future topics of interest.
  • Project meetings with other representatives – Convened by the digital editor you will meet with other representatives to share best practice, identify challenges and help shape the future of the representatives programme.
