About the role

Reporting to the Director Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, this role provides a unique opportunity to strengthen Lotterywest’s pro-active granting approach.

This includes managing Lotterywest’s Developing Solutions grant program which distributes around $25m in strategic grants per annum. The Developing Solutions program targets systemic change in specific impact focus areas. At present this includes Bridging the Digital Divide, Ecosystem Protection and Species Conservation and Truth Telling. While you don’t have to be an expert in these areas, we’re looking for someone with a sound understanding of related issues and the kind of inquisitive mindset to unpack complex systems, community need or unique opportunities to affect change

This will require you to work across sectors to identify opportunities to support not-for-profits to pilot new approaches, scale up existing projects, and broker new relationships and collaborations. It will also require the application of best practice grant-making approaches including a strong understanding of effective impact design and evaluation, due diligence and risk management.  

The role is also responsible for supporting the Director Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships in the delivery of other strategic, longer-term or major grant-making initiatives aligned to Lotterywest’s Community Investment Framework.  To thrive, you will be someone that is skilled in balancing strategy and pragmatism,  who has a sound knowledge of the unique contexts of Western Australia’s metropolitan, regional and remote communities, and is comfortable working with diverse stakeholders to help ‘connect the dots’ and facilitate outcomes. 

An awareness of the interests and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities/organisations is important for this role. Please note that this role involves some regional travel, after hours work and representation at functions and events. 

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated high-level experience in the management of complex projects/programs.
  2. High level interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and liaise effectively across all levels with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  3. Specialised knowledge and experience in community development, grant-making, and business cases.
  4. Knowledge and experience in Aboriginal stakeholder engagement and community development.
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead individuals and/or teams to build their capabilities in project delivery
  6. High level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills

Possession or progress towards, tertiary degree qualification in Community Development or past professional experience in Community Development or similar profession.
