ROLE OVERVIEW
- Sydney Women’s Fund is a Key Fund of the Sydney Community Foundation
- Greater Sydney (flexible location, office in Paddington).
- 4-5 days per week
- Salary: Commensurate to skills and experience
- Not for profit salary packaging benefit – $15,9000 tax free salary
Sydney Women’s Fund (SWF) is one of Australia’s leading philanthropic funds dedicated to empowering women and families across Greater Sydney. The Sydney Women’s Fund Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for growing the Fund’s impact, securing transformational philanthropic support, and facilitating the Fund’s community-led place-based program in South Western Sydney.
This role requires a dynamic and purpose-driven leader with expertise in fundraising, major gifts, partnerships, and community development program management. The Sydney Women’s Fund Manager will ensure Sydney Women’s Fund continues to thrive and deliver tangible outcomes for Sydney women and families.
The purpose of the role is to lead and grow the impact of Sydney Women’s Fund (SWF) in line with its 2023–2026 Strategic Plan, with the following four focus areas.
FOCUS OF ROLE
Western Sydney Place-Based Program Management:
- Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of Sydney Women’s Fund’s community-led place-based program in Western Sydney; Doorways to the Future.
- Work collaboratively with local stakeholders, listening to community leaders, and service providers to ensure the program aligns with community needs.
- Oversee reporting, monitoring, and evaluation to measure the impact of place-based initiatives.
Fundraising and Partnerships:
- Amplification of the Fund’s current fundraising and advocacy efforts, including the overseeing the delivery of signature events; International Women’s Day, Saluting Sydney Women, Charity Site Visits for major donors.
- Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, stewarding and growing major philanthropic gifts and building the Fund’s permanent endowment to sustain Sydney Women’s Fund’s enduring grantmaking.
- Design and implement partnerships and sponsorships to foster collaborations to advance equity and opportunity for Sydney women and families, and to support the Fund’s operational capacity.
Grantmaking and Impact Reporting:
- Work collaboratively with Sydney Community Foundation’s Operations and Donor Manager to award grants from Sydney Women’s Fund, ensuring alignment with the Fund’s priorities and values.
- Oversee the Sydney Women’s Fund Coordinator’s work in producing detailed reports on project outcomes and impact for SWF donors, partners, and stakeholders.
Collaboration and Advocacy:
- Collaborate closely with the Sydney Community Foundation CEO and Sydney Women’s Fund Advisory Council (preparing timely agendas and reports for Advisory Council meetings), and for the Sydney Community Foundation Board to advance the Fund’s mission.
- Advocate for gender equity and the needs of women and families in Sydney through partnerships, initiatives, and community and government engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in program management within community development, social impact, or the nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex programs with multiple stakeholders, including community, social services, local government, and funders.
- Proven expertise in high-net-worth fundraising and grant writing, securing philanthropic gifts from individuals, trusts, and corporate partners.
- Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse audiences.
- Genuine passion for social impact, women’s empowerment, and community development.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Exceptional writing, public speaking, and storytelling abilities, particularly for donor engagement and advocacy.
- Proficiency in digital tools and platforms, including:
- CRM software
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Canva
- Event management and donor engagement platforms
