With appreciation and gratitude, Philanthropy Australia farewells Queensland and Northern Territory Senior Director of Engagement Kim Harland this week.

Since joining Philanthropy Australia in October 2022, Kim has built strong relationships across the sector, bringing people together to strengthen philanthropy and support communities across Queensland and the Northern Territory.

“Philanthropy in both states is leading the way in so many areas, from collaboration and place-based giving to supporting regional and remote communities and ensuring local voices help shape local solutions.

“It has been a privilege to be part of this sector and contribute to its growth. Thank you to PA’s members, philanthropists, funders and community organisations I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

“And, most importantly, to the PA team I have had the pleasure of working with over the last four years, an exceptional group of people who bring so much commitment, expertise and passion to their work.

“The magic in philanthropy happens through relationships, connections and the people we get to work with. My time at PA has been pure magic,” she says.

Kim leaves Philanthropy Australia after playing a key role in planning and delivering the Philanthropy Australia Conference 2026 in Brisbane, which showcased Queensland’s generosity, innovation and leadership across the philanthropic sector.

Kim is celebrated by colleagues and members alike for her warmth, generosity and unwavering support of those around her. Many describe her as kindness in action, reflecting the care and commitment she brings to every relationship.

Reflecting on Kim’s contribution, CEO Maree Sidey said:

“Kim’s wisdom, grace, experience and maturity have been an enormous asset to our team and to the sector. Her diplomacy and warmth have had a significant impact.

“During her time at PA, she has contributed to some of our most important initiatives, from the evolution of our membership model through to delivering the largest conference in our history.

“We are deeply grateful for her contribution and wish her every success in her next chapter.”
