The Community Council for Australia (CCA) is inviting Conference 2026 delegates to be part of a national storytelling campaign designed to showcase the impact, value and influence of Australia’s charity and not-for-profit sector.

Launched this month, #AusWeWant / #ImagineAustralia encourages people involved in charities, not-for-profits, social enterprises, volunteering and philanthropy to share, in just a few sentences, why they do what they do, the values that drive them, and the future they want to help create.

The campaign aims to build a rich picture of the sector’s contribution to communities across Australia, one story at a time.

CCA CEO David Crosbie says storytelling is an essential part of strengthening the sector’s voice and influence.

“If we don’t tell our story and engage people with our value, no one else will.”

Despite generating more than $239 billion annually and holding more than $500 billion in assets, Australia’s charity and not-for-profit sector remains one of the least understood parts of the national economy. Through #AusWeWant#ImagineAustralia, CCA hopes to shine a light on the people, values and aspirations that underpin the sector’s work every day.

At Conference 2026, delegates have the opportunity to share their stories by visiting the CCA activation space. Participants can take a photo, record a short video, post to social media, or spend a couple of minutes completing a postcard to add to a growing display of stories from across the sector.

CCA is encouraging conference attendees to share their stories online using #AusWeWant and #ImagineAustralia, alongside the conference tags #PhilanthropyAustraliaConference2026 themes #MobiliseGenerosity and #ShapeTheFuture

Throughout the conference, CCA CEO David Crosbie, Director of Policy David Hofierka, Director of Sector Leadership and Community Engagement Dimity Fifer will be available to connect with delegates and discuss the campaign, the importance of sector advocacy, and CCA’s work to amplify the contribution, voice and influence of charities and not-for-profits.
