As the Philanthropy Australia Conference in Brisbane this September draws closer, we are honoured to welcome long-standing Queensland members and dedicated philanthropists Tim Fairfax AC and Gina Fairfax AC as Patrons.

Tim and Gina’s leadership and deep commitment to strengthening rural, regional and remote communities across Queensland and the Northern Territory bring a powerful resonance to the 2026 Conference location and theme: Mobilising Generosity, Shaping the Future.

Tim and Gina Fairfax told Giving News that they extend a warm welcome to delegates from across the country and the world.

“We are delighted to serve as Patrons of the Philanthropy Australia Conference 2026 as it is held in Queensland for the first time.

“It is our great pleasure to welcome delegates to Brisbane to connect, share knowledge and be inspired by the collective impact our sector can achieve together and into the future.”

A force for community wellbeing

For almost two decades, the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation (TFFF) has stood as a significant force for community wellbeing in the country’s north. The Foundation backs locally-led organisations that advance connectedness, resilience, futureproofing and community leadership. Its long-term funding strategy supports programs that span early childhood, youth development, First Nations leadership, community-building and place-based impact.

Tim and Gina have been consistent advocates for the role that generosity and community leadership play in shaping lasting outcomes.

“We have seen firsthand how generosity and community leadership can drive meaningful and lasting change,” they said.

“Queensland’s philanthropic community continues to embrace innovation, collaboration and place-based approaches to create stronger and more adaptable communities.”

Holding the Conference in Brisbane creates a timely opportunity to shine a national spotlight on the leadership, creativity and generosity that characterise Queensland’s philanthropic ecosystem.

Philanthropy Australia is grateful for Tim and Gina’s leadership, their partnership and their profound commitment to strengthening community life across the north of Australia.

Join us in Brisbane this September.
