Philanthropy Australia, the peak body for giving in Australia, is pleased to announce a new major strategic partnership with Minderoo Foundation, a systems-led philanthropic organisation based in Perth.

Minderoo Foundation joins Philanthropy Australia’s existing strategic partners: Paul Ramsay Foundation, Perpetual, Equity Trustees, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, the Snow Foundation and an anonymous philanthropic organisation.

The support builds on the investments made by the other strategic partners and enables Philanthropy Australia to execute on its ambitious growth agenda and capitalise on this critical moment for philanthropy and the wider community sector.

Collectively, the strategic partners support the implementation of Philanthropy Australia’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025. The Strategic Plan’s focus is to increase engagement with individual philanthropists and philanthropic organisations in support of the goal to lift annual structured giving to $5 billion by 2030. Philanthropy Australia’s vision is for a generous and inclusive Australia through more and better philanthropy.

“We are excited to support Philanthropy Australia and build on existing areas of collaboration including the Foundations Group on Impact Investing, the Philanthropy Evaluation network, and advocacy to the federal government on the double giving agenda.

“Minderoo is committed to strengthening the capacity of our peers and our partners to create, accelerate and scale measurable impact.

“Partnering with Philanthropy Australia to advance the evolving practices of funders and investors will lead to a stronger and more resilient for-purpose sector, recognising the importance of sustainable funding and support systems, and continuing its vital role in championing societal and environmental progress.”

Quotes attributable to Adam Ognall, Acting CEO, Philanthropy Australia

“On behalf of the Board, team and members of Philanthropy Australia, I am delighted to welcome Minderoo Foundation as our newest strategic partner.

“In 2024, as we face global and local uncertainties, philanthropy is in a unique position to help change lives and save lives. Philanthropy can be innovative and take risks in ways that governments and others may not be able to pursue. Philanthropy can help solve pressing issues, working with communities, and pilot new ways to deliver social outcomes.

“Alongside our Strategic Partners, we thank our valued Philanthropy Champions for their ongoing support of our policy and advocacy efforts, which are particularly important this year as we anticipate the final report of the Productivity Commission’s review of charitable giving in Australia, due out in May 2024.”.
