Philanthropy Australia Conference will head west in 2028
Philanthropy Australia Conference is heading west. For the first time in the event’s history, the sector’s flagship conference will be held in Perth in 2028.
With Minderoo Foundation and the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation already confirmed as Principal Partners, planning is underway for a conference that will showcase leading voices, ideas and initiatives shaping philanthropy in Australia.
On announcing the 2028 destination at the end of Philanthropy Australia Conference 2026, Philanthropy Australia CEO Maree Sidey said Perth was a natural choice.
“I am absolutely delighted that we’ll be heading to Perth, a state with an incredible history of giving. We have more than 300 members deeply committed to Western Australia, and our mighty Perth-based team has already received enthusiastic feedback about bringing the sector together there.”
In April 2026, Philanthropy Australia and The University of Western Australia released the first Western Australia Snapshot of Giving Study, which highlighted strong examples of generosity, community participation and volunteering in the state.
“Our research and the community response we’ve already seen confirm Perth is the right place for our first conference on the West Coast. We’re grateful for the support of Minderoo Foundation and the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and look forward to celebrating Western Australia’s strong culture of giving,” Maree says.
In a video address (see below) announcing the news, Western Australia Premier Hon. Roger Cook MLA says the State is excited to host the largest gathering of the philanthropic and for purpose sector.
Minderoo Foundation CEO John Hartman says the conference offers one of the most significant forums in the country for people committed to creating positive social change.
