Side Events: extending connection beyond the 2026 Conference program

One of the most valuable experiences at a Philanthropy Australia Conference is the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers beyond formal sessions. This year, a new program of Side Events will make even more space for delegates to deepen relationships, share ideas and convene around common interests.

Side Events are delegate‑led gatherings organised alongside the main Conference program, offering the dedicated time to come together in smaller groups over breakfast or dinner. They recognise that some of the most meaningful conversations happen outside plenary rooms, through informal connection, peer exchange and time spent with trusted networks.

“We know that finding friends and making new connections is a vital part of the sector coming together at our conferences,” said Maree Sidey, Philanthropy Australia CEO. “Instead of people having to squeeze in catch ups during the main conference, we have deliberately left space in the program for delegates to schedule meetings for their own networks or groups.”

Side Events are open for delegates to host or attend during the following times:

  • Dinner on Monday 7 September and Friday 11 September
  • Breakfast on Tuesday 8 September, Wednesday 9 September and Thursday 10 September

Delegates who would like to open their breakfast or dinner Side Event to other Conference participants can submit their event details via the Conference website.

Approved Side Events will be promoted online so other delegates can easily discover and join.

Social Good Map

To support delegates in planning Side Events, Queensland Gives has curated a Social Good Map of Brisbane for the Conference. The map highlights social enterprises, for‑purpose organisations and nonprofits located within a 15‑minute walk of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, making it easier to find venues for meetings, coffees, meals and gatherings that align with Conference values.
