New appointments across the sector - August 2022

ABC News Breakfast co-host Michael Rowland has been appointed Western Bulldogs Community Foundation ambassador.  

Rowland has been with the ABC since the early 1990s and is a passionate Bulldogs fan and western suburbs local.

“I really admire the values the club espouses, and the Foundation is very much at the forefront of that, and that’s the key reason I’m very keen to be involved,” Rowland said.

Kathryn van der Merwe is the new Chair of Workplace Giving Australia Employer Leadership Group (ELG). Kathryn is the Group Executive, Talent & Culture and Service Centres at ANZ. She is also ANZ’s Executive Sponsor of Workplace Giving, Volunteering and its Reconciliation Action Plan.

The Workplace Giving Australia Employer Leadership Group was launched in 2002 and is made up of senior representatives from a range of Australia’s leading businesses. The group is focused on the development of workplace giving, in changing the legislative and corporate landscape and in promoting the role of the corporation in Australian philanthropy.

Blair Palese has joined Ethinvest as director of philanthropy. Blair is Managing Director and Climate Editor of Climate & Capital Media, was co-founder and chief executive officer of, and head of communications for Greenpeace International.  She has had 30 years’ experience as a director, CEO, senior manager, editor, project manager and strategist with NGOs, media, businesses and government agencies.

The newly created role is about maximising the environmental and social impact of Ethinvest’s philanthropic funds.
