Australia’s national philanthropy peak body, Philanthropy Australia, will bring together leading international and local experts to explore global and local trends and inspire a new wave of humanity-centred philanthropy.
The 2022 Philanthropy Australia National Conference, ‘For the Love of Humanity: People, Place and Planet’ will take place from 6-8 September at the International Convention Centre in Sydney. The conference will explore insights emerging from First Nations philanthropy, impact investing, global funding, and more.
Philanthropy Australia CEO Jack Heath explains: “Now more than ever as we work to overcome crises exacerbated by the pandemic and divert more resources into philanthropic giving, we must honour philanthropy’s age-old purpose: to help humanity. But how can we prioritise this help when so many aspects of people, place, and planet need support? How do we do this at a time of increasing ‘hyper-localism’? The conference will drive a national conversation to answer these important questions.”
Among the conference’s international keynote speakers is Dr Beth Breeze, ‘In Defence of Philanthropy’ author and Director of the Global Challenges Doctoral Centre and Centre for Philanthropy at the University of Kent. An Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to philanthropic research and fundraising, Dr Breeze will share insights gained over her 25 years in the field.
The conference follows the Labor Government’s election commitment to double philanthropic giving in Australia by 2030. This would generate an estimated additional AU$13billion flowing into the charities sector each year to address our greatest challenges, from poverty and the climate crisis to justice for First Nations peoples.
Philanthropists, sector leaders, CEOs, academics, and local and international experts are invited to attend the conference, ultimately becoming better resourced to address the modern challenges we collectively face.
Early bird tickets to the 2022 Philanthropy Australia Conference are available until 15 July 2022, in addition to a digital offering. Visit: https://conference.philanthropy.org.au/2022 for more information and to access the conference program.
