There is an extensive range of resources available to the philanthropic sector, but they’re not always easy to find, so we’ve collated some of them here:

  • Alliance Magazine: Since 1998 Alliance magazine has been a leading magazine for philanthropy and social investment worldwide providing news and analysis of what’s happening in the sector right across the world.

  • Asian Philanthropy Forum: Asian Philanthropy Forum curates the ongoing discussions in the philanthropic sector and highlights leaders and organizations that are working to improve the quality of life and sustainability of Asian communities.

  • Chronicle of Philanthropy: The Chronicle of Philanthropy is an independent news organisation that has been serving leaders, fundraisers, grant makers, and others involved in the philanthropic enterprise for more than 25 years. It offers a robust advice section to help not-for-profit workers do their jobs as well as one of the biggest listings of career opportunities.

  • Fundraising & Philanthropy Magazine: Created for managers and executives in the not-for-profit sector working in fundraising, marketing, philanthropic and leadership roles. Between its covers you will find commentary and analysis on issues and emerging trends; case studies; legislation updates; giving news; professional development opportunities; best practice guidelines; strategy and management; profiles on philanthropists and other significant people in the sector.

  • Good Pitch blog: Interviews with filmmakers, social impact producers, senior advisers and collaborators, opinion pieces, short videos, stories about fascinating people and times.

  • IMPACT Newsletter: IMPACT provides insight into important issues for philanthropists and the not-for-profit sector. It shares thought provoking ideas and best practice examples that aim to both stimulate and motivate a passion for philanthropy with Impact.

  • Inside Philanthropy: To pull back the curtain on one of the most powerful and dynamic forces shaping society. Every day, the Inside Philanthropy team of editors and reporters is digging into how foundations and major donors are giving away their money, and why.

  • Map for Impact: Map for Impact is a ground-breaking study to identify and map Victoria’s social enterprises and explore their social and economic characteristics.

  • Philanthropy News Digest: A daily news service of the Foundation Center, is a compendium, in digest form, of philanthropy-related articles and features culled from print and electronic media outlets nationwide.

  • Philanthropy Impact: Inspiring philanthropy and social investment across borders, sectors and causes.

  • ​Third Sector: Professional news, opinion and leadership.


  • Philanthropy Hour: A platform for interviews with leaders in philanthropy, social innovation, impact investing, and motivated change makers. The vision is to be a source point for inspiration in philanthropy, social enterprise, and civic engagement.

  • The responsibility of philanthropy: US Foundation Funding for Australia special.

  • Giving for the Common Good: US Foundation Funding for Australia special.

  • Pro Bono Australia: Media, jobs and resources for the common good. 

  • WINGS: WINGS is an independent not-for-profit global network that brings together 88 support organizations serving philanthropy in 36 countries. Together WINGS members represent more than 15,000 foundations, grantmakers and social investors worldwide.
