Resourcing LGBTIQ+ Futures: Lessons and Possibilities for Funders
Following her Churchill Fellowship to the United States and United Kingdom, Rainbow Giving Australia’s CEO, Em Scott (she/her) will share key insights and recommendations from her report Resourcing LGBTIQ+ Futures.
Co-hosted with Snow Foundation, Sidney Myer Fund and Philanthropy Australia, Em will be joined by other experts to provide additional perspectives on the Australian context.
In the US and UK, recent years have shown how precious LGBTIQ+ rights are, and how quickly LGBTIQ+ funding landscapes can shift under pressure.
Designed for donors and funders of all types, this session will provide practical recommendations on how funding models can better support long-term sustainability and strengthen collective impact, including how funders can:
- Stay the course during periods of increased polarisation through clarity of purpose, strong peer connections, and practical plans for risk and safety
- Take an intersectional and interconnected lens that includes LGBTIQ+ equality within the ‘polycrisis’
- Understand the important role of LGBTIQ+ community-led funders as essential stabilisers
- Apply best-practice grantmaking that is trust-based, centres community, and funds greater sector resilience (including inspiring individual giving through matched funding and supporting organisations to coordinate, convene and build a share vision)
