Andrew and Nicola Forrest make extraordinary gift to Minderoo Foundation 

In an exceptional act of philanthropy, Andrew and Nicola Forrest have committed an additional $5 billion to their philanthropic foundation Minderoo. Philanthropy Australia CEO Jack Heath congratulated the Forrests on the donation, saying that they are an inspiration, especially to those who hold significant wealth.

Save the date: Philanthropy Meets Parliament Summit

When: Tuesday 24 October

Now is an exciting time for philanthropy in Australia. The Government has pledged to work with the philanthropic, not-for-profit and business sectors to develop a Strategy to Double Giving to Charity by 2030. Politicians from all sides of the Parliament are turning their attention to how they can help foster a more generous Australia.

Philanthropy Australia is continuing to work to arrange great speakers and topics for the Summit and we’ll have more to announce soon – including a full program.

Psychological wellbeing and long-term disaster response

Australians and New Zealanders are navigating the medium-long term effects of natural disasters and the very real mental health risks to the people they impact. 

Join Clinical Psychologist, Dr Rob Gordon OAM, and Kate Sclater of the Rata foundation to learn about the potential impact and support required to help people who have experienced the trauma of flooding, cyclones or bushfires.

Work Integration Social Enterprise Grants Open

The Work Integration Social Enterprise (WISE) Grant is a new grant program that will provide up to $4 million to social enterprises that exist to create jobs and employment pathways for Australians facing barriers to mainstream employment. The WISE grant is a collaboration between eight partner organisations: Paul Ramsay Foundation, Westpac Foundation, Macquarie Group Foundation, and Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, Minderoo Foundation, and English Family Foundation. MinterEllison are providing pro bono advice on the grant program’s governance.

The Philanthropy Conference 2023 – Uniquely Aotearoa New Zealand

Philanthropy Australia members are invited to be part of the biggest gathering of philanthropists and grantmakers in Aotearoa New Zealand. This in-person event will bring together funders from across Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas to learn, network, celebrate achievements and collaborate. With more than 35 different events to attend and participate in, there’s a wide range of topics to suit different funder types that have been curated to cater for family members, trustees, leaders and staff.
