Philanthropy Australia has today opened general registrations for its Philanthropy Meets Parliament Summit at Parliament House, Canberra on Tuesday 24 October.

 

The theme of the one-day event is Government and Philanthropy Working Together to Double Giving. Tickets are sure to sell out for the biennial event.

Our roadmap to growing community foundations

Community Foundations Australia and Philanthropy Australia have developed together a further 52-page submission to the Productivity Commission about community foundations. This outlines a roadmap to strengthen these vital drivers of place-based change in rural, regional and urban areas. The submission details how the foundations can work together with Government and the Australian people to double giving by 2030 and create impactful, long-term community benefit.

‘Don’t wait for a crisis to build vital relationships’ 

Kate Sclater, Head of Community Investment at Rātā Foundation in Christchurch, shares insights learned from funding initiatives put in place following disaster events in the South Island of New Zealand. Kate is one of the speakers at the upcoming ‘Psychological wellbeing and long-term disaster response’ webinar co-hosted by Philanthropy Australia and Philanthropy New Zealand. Andrew Leigh invites input to charities survey

Charities minister Dr Andrew Leigh held a series of Town Hall talks this week to meet with sector representatives. As part of the government’s goal to double philanthropy by 2030, alongside the Productivity Commission, work has started on a blueprint for strengthening sector capacity and capabilities. The government is conducting a Charity Sector Blueprint survey and invites charities to have their say.

Psychological wellbeing and long-term disaster response

Australians and New Zealanders are navigating the medium-long term effects of natural disasters and the mental health risks to the people they impact. Join clinical psychologist, Dr Rob Gordon OAM, Kate Sclater of the Rātā foundation, Nina O’Brien of Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and Dr Alexandra Williamson of the Queensland University of Technology to learn about the potential impact and support required to help people who have experienced the trauma of flooding, drought, cyclones or bushfires.
