Sydney Women’s Fund emergency domestic violence appeal was ‘saving lives’ in weeks
Sometimes there’s only a window of a few hours to get locks changed and save a woman’s life. Weave Youth & Community Services, a Sydney not-for-profit that works at the ‘pointy end’ of keeping women and children safe from domestic violence, has a trusted team of trauma-informed tradies on call to do the job. The work is funded in part from an emergency appeal by the Sydney Women’s Fund that was in Weave’s hands within weeks.

Thanks to an introduction by the Australian International Development Network (AIDN), Giving News had a chat with Anna and Darrell Wade. Darrell is Chair and Non-Executive Director of the Intrepid Foundation and co-founded Intrepid Travel. Anna has worked with the Intrepid Foundation for more than 17 years, progressing campaigns on issues including animal welfare, human rights and economic empowerment.

UK Study Tour: ‘The changes being made to power sharing practices was the standout learning’
A group of Philanthropy Australia members have returned from an enriching study tour in the UK buzzing with fresh insights and enthusiasm to invest in their work in Australia. The members had an action-packed itinerary meeting with more than 40 speakers from 20+ organisations sharing best practice and deep understanding of the many ways philanthropy is making a difference today.
