Roadmap to improving diversity sparks strong interest

Following our well-attended online event – co-presented with the Centre for Social Impact –  discussing the report ‘From colour blind to race conscious: a roadmap to action diversity and inclusion in Australian philanthropy’, it is now available on our website. The report aims to develop an understanding of the extent of cultural diversity representation in the sector and highlights a disconnect between intention and practice, setting out 16 recommendations. A recording of the webinar is available for members on the Better Giving Hub.

Brave voices: key takeaways from the NEXUS Global Summit

‘Sharing knowledge will create generational change’

Kayla Baker-Peris is a proud Yolngu, Yawurru and Kidja woman born and raised in Darwin. She is an alumna of the Yalari Indigenous scholarship program, which supported her until graduating from Kambala Girls School in Rose Bay, Sydney, in 2018. Below, she shares her experiences of being one of the first Indigenous students at Kambala and how the scholarship changed her life.

Pride Foundation Australia’s 2023 Large Grant round

Pride Foundation Australia has launched a grant round to support LGBTQIA+ refugees and people seeking asylum. This is their second large grant round with a total value of $20,000, with a focus on supporting sexuality, sex and gender-diverse (LGBTQIA+) refugees and people seeking asylum.

The Jack Brockhoff Foundation is offering grants between $10,000 and $50,0000 for 1 year. The Foundation is seeking applications in two key areas of interest:

Community Grants program

The aim of the Jack Brockhoff Foundation’s Community Grants Program is to support innovative programs that will have a lasting impact on communities throughout Victoria. Kenneth Myer Innovation Fellowships

The Kenneth Myer Innovation Fellowships aim to support breakthrough solutions to Australia’s most pressing social and environmental challenges.

A Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for recipients to take 12 months, supported by $180,000, to focus on approaches that have the potential to achieve positive outcomes for society, supporting initiatives that align with one or more of the program themes of inclusion and equality, sustainability and environment including climate change, or human, civil and legal rights

Impact Investing webinar series

Impact Investing Hub and Philanthropy Australia present an Impact Investing Webinar Series for 2023.  For social enterprises and not-for-profits, the series explores how these organisations can improve financial sustainability and scale their impact by exploring new revenue streams and funding opportunities, including impact investment and philanthropy. For foundations, investors and advisors, the series will explore how organisations can use impact investing to unlock greater impact through their capital allocations.
